The Story Behind Medieval Meadow

Hi, I’m Bente, an artist from The Netherlands and the person behind Medieval Meadow.

I started Medieval Meadow because I missed clothing that actually felt imaginative. Most fashion today feels very clean, minimal and safe. A blank sweater, a small logo, the same styles repeated everywhere. I wanted to make pieces that feel more like wearable drawings than ordinary clothing.

Every design starts as one of my illustrations before being turned into a knitted sweater or shirt. Some are inspired by fantasy worlds, medieval art and folklore, others by strange creatures, old stories and the feeling of wanting to escape everyday life for a moment.

The sweaters are made for people who like clothing with personality. Something a little unusual, nostalgic, dark, playful or dramatic. Clothing that starts conversations instead of blending in.

All sweaters are ethically knit on demand to avoid overproduction and unnecessary waste.

For those who find beauty in the extraordinary.
